About the JYRO Crossfire 3

The Crossfire 3 is JYRO's fully elliptical 9-cell sports canopy — designed for the intermediate-to-advanced pilot who wants more performance than a semi-elliptical like the Safire 4 but isn't ready for a crossbraced wing. The CF3 fills the gap with aggressive dive, speed, and a longer recovery arc while keeping openings soft and handling intuitive.

Fully Elliptical Planform

Unlike semi-elliptical canopies, the Crossfire 3's true fully elliptical shape distributes wing loading more efficiently across the span. This produces a cleaner profile, less induced drag, and noticeably better glide and speed — especially in turns.

Refined Opening Sequence

The Crossfire 3 is known for some of the best openings in its class. Careful nose geometry and staging produce consistently soft, on-heading deployments — a critical feature for pilots loading the canopy aggressively.

J-ZP Fabric Throughout

High-tenacity 30-denier rip-stop nylon with a silicone coating provides near-zero porosity, excellent shape retention, and a compact pack volume. J-ZP ages well and maintains performance over hundreds of jumps.

The Crossfire 3 is designed for skydivers with 200+ jumps who are comfortable on a 9-cell canopy and want to start pushing performance. If you've been flying a Safire 4, Pilot, or Stiletto and want more speed, dive, and flare power without going crossbraced, the CF3 is the natural next step.

What Can You Expect?

Compared to a semi-elliptical 9-cell, the Crossfire 3 dives faster, carries more speed through turns, and has a noticeably longer recovery arc. The flare is deep and powerful, rewarding good technique. Toggle pressure is moderate and inputs are responsive — the canopy tells you exactly what it's doing. Recommended wing loading is 1.3–2.0 lbs/sqft.

The CF3 is the natural progression from the Safire 4 when you want more performance without moving to a crossbraced wing.

What's the difference between the Crossfire 3 and JFX 2?

The JFX 2 is a 21-cell crossbraced canopy — significantly higher performance, speed, and flare power. The Crossfire 3 is a 9-cell fully elliptical that bridges the gap between the Safire 4 and JFX 2. If you're not ready for a crossbraced wing but want more than a semi-elliptical, the CF3 is where you should be.

How many jumps should I have before flying a Crossfire 3?

JYRO recommends the Crossfire 3 for pilots with 200+ jumps who are comfortable on a 9-cell canopy. You should have solid canopy piloting fundamentals — consistent stand-up landings, comfort in turbulence, and experience flying at wing loadings above 1.0 before stepping to the CF3.

How long is the Crossfire 3 lead time?

Custom orders take approximately 30 weeks from the JYRO factory. In-stock canopies arrive in 1–2 weeks. Stock canopies marked "In Production" may take slightly longer. Check the stock section above for what's available right now.
