About the JYRO Safire 4
The Safire 4 is JYRO's flagship performance intermediate — a 9-cell semi-elliptical canopy built for pilots who want more speed, more responsiveness, and more precision without stepping into a fully elliptical or crossbraced design. The semi-elliptical planform delivers a wider speed range and better flare power than a rectangular wing, while remaining approachable and predictable.
JYRO Canopy Lineup
The Safire 4 sits at the performance end of JYRO's range — built for pilots ready to step up from the Helium.
Find Your Size
Enter your exit weight (you + gear) to see the wing loading for each Safire 4 size. JYRO recommends 1.0–1.6 lbs/sqft for the Safire 4.
Wing loading is a guideline — your experience level, jump environment, and comfort matter too. Contact us if you're unsure.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size Safire 4 do I need?
Size depends on your exit weight and experience level. The recommended wing loading range is 1.0–1.6 lbs/sqft. Use the size calculator above, or contact us and we'll help you dial in the right size based on your jump numbers and goals.
What's the difference between Safire 4 and Helium?
The Helium is a docile, low-bulk canopy based on the Safire 3 platform — ideal for intermediate jumpers who want a big, easy-flying wing in a small pack. The Safire 4 is a performance step up: semi-elliptical planform, faster airspeeds, crisper handling, and a more dynamic flight feel. Choose the Helium for comfort and low pack volume; choose the Safire 4 for speed and precision.
Vectran vs HMA lines — which should I choose?
Vectran 750 is the standard option — durable, low-stretch, and proven. HMA (High Modulus Aramid) lines are thinner and produce slightly less drag, giving you a small performance edge. HMA requires more careful handling. Ask your rigger or contact us if you're unsure.
How many jumps should I have before flying a Safire 4?
JYRO recommends the Safire 4 for jumpers with 200+ jumps who are comfortable with their current canopy and ready for more performance. If you're downsizing from a larger docile canopy, consider starting at a conservative wing loading (around 1.0–1.2) and working up as you build confidence on the wing.
How long is the Safire 4 lead time?
Custom orders take approximately 30 weeks from the JYRO factory. In-stock canopies arrive in 1–2 weeks. Stock canopies marked "In Production" may take slightly longer. Check the stock section above for what's available right now.
Can I design my own color scheme?
Yes! Use the 3D configurator to pick colors for every panel, cell, powerband, and slider. Save your design, share the link, or add it straight to your cart.
What containers fit the Safire 4?
The Safire 4 uses standard ZP fabric, so it fits containers rated for its square footage. Compatibility varies by manufacturer — contact us with your container model and we'll check the fit for you.
