About the JYRO JFX 2

The JFX 2 is JYRO's crossbraced performance canopy — a 21-cell X-braced tri-cell design engineered for experienced pilots transitioning from 9-cell ellipticals into crossbraced territory. Version 2.0 introduced Powerband technology, mini-ribs, and sail-loaded ribs for a measurable step up in speed, glide, and flare power while preserving the approachable handling that made the original JFX a favourite entry-level crossbrace.

21-Cell X-Braced Tri-Cell

The fully elliptical 21-chamber crossbraced architecture captures the smoothed, staged openings of a traditional 7-cell while delivering dramatically higher performance. Each main cell is subdivided into three chambers with internal crossbraces for rigidity and reduced drag.

Powerband Technology

Reinforced structural bands integrated into the canopy skin distribute aerodynamic loads more efficiently, improving planform stability during high-speed flight and aggressive manoeuvres.

J-ZP + S-PU Fabric

Zero-porosity nylon (J-ZP) throughout the canopy with strategically placed S-PU sail fabric — a plastic-layered material — in the highest-load ribs for improved shape retention and longevity under aggressive use.

Who Should Fly This Wing?

The JFX 2 is designed for experienced skydivers with at least 500+ jumps who have been flying a high-performance 9-cell elliptical at wing loadings of 1.3+ and are ready to step into crossbraced territory. Strong canopy piloting fundamentals are essential — this is not a beginner canopy.

What Can You Expect?

A significant step up in speed, dive, and recovery arc compared to any 9-cell. The crossbraced design delivers noticeably higher glide ratio, faster flat speeds, and a deeper, more powerful flare. Despite the performance increase, the JFX 2 remains approachable — toggle pressure is moderate, turns are progressive, and the canopy communicates clearly through the harness. Recommended wing loading is 1.6–2.2 lbs/sqft.

What size JFX 2 do I need?

What's the difference between JFX 2 and Safire 4?

The Safire 4 is a 9-cell semi-elliptical canopy for performance intermediate pilots. The JFX 2 is a 21-cell crossbraced canopy that delivers significantly higher speed, glide, and flare power. The JFX 2 is the logical next step after mastering the Safire 4 at higher wing loadings. It requires more experience but rewards skilled pilots with dramatically better performance.

What is an RDS Slider?

RDS (Removable Deployment System) is a slider that can be removed after opening to reduce drag during flight. This gives cleaner canopy flight and slightly better performance. RDS is recommended for experienced crossbraced pilots who are comfortable with the additional step during deployment. It adds €500 to the canopy price.

How many jumps should I have before flying a JFX 2?

JYRO recommends the JFX 2 for pilots with 500+ jumps who have been flying a high-performance 9-cell at wing loadings above 1.3 lbs/sqft. Strong canopy piloting fundamentals — including carving turns, controlled recovery arcs, and consistent stand-up landings — are essential before stepping into a crossbraced canopy.

How long is the JFX 2 lead time?

Custom orders take approximately 30 weeks from the JYRO factory. In-stock canopies arrive in 1–2 weeks. Stock canopies marked "In Production" may take slightly longer. Check the stock section above for what's available right now.

Can I design my own color scheme?

What containers fit the JFX 2?

Crossbraced canopies pack smaller than their square footage suggests. A JFX 2 104 may fit in a container sized for a 120-130 sq ft 9-cell. Compatibility varies by manufacturer — contact us with your container model and we'll check the fit for you.
