Why Skydivers Choose the Infinity

Every detail engineered for safety, comfort, and performance across all disciplines.

01

Mechanical MARD: Reserve Deployment in 0.17 Seconds

Unlike aerodynamic MARDs that rely on airspeed and body position, the Infinity's mechanical MARD uses a precise trigger-tab-and-locking-pin system that works identically every time — regardless of malfunction type, spin rate, or G-forces.

  • Less than one ounce of release force vs. pounds for competing systems
  • 100% capture rate in testing with zero premature releases
  • Built-in rigger inspection window for verification during packing
  • Owner-configurable: MARD active, RSL-only, or ripcord-only

02

Floating Lateral System: Self-Adjusting Comfort

The lateral straps connect through a vertical-axis slot in the hip ring. When the main container is packed and full, the harness pulls tight against your lower back for a secure freefall fit. After deployment, as the container empties, the laterals release slightly for comfort under canopy.

  • Automatic fit adjustment between freefall and canopy flight
  • Eliminates container corners as snag points
  • Superior stability in head-down and sit-fly orientations
  • Standard on every Infinity — no upgrade required

03

Pin Protection That Passes the Lift Test

The main pin flap anchors at the same point as the top container flap, maintaining consistent pin protection regardless of canopy size changes. The one-piece tuck tab keeps the flap locked in every flight regime — riggers have physically lifted entire rigs by the pin flap without it opening.

  • Dual riser covers integrated into reserve container side flaps
  • Secondary covers minimize primary cover size, reducing reserve restriction
  • Riser geometry guides risers outward for even deployment
  • Optional magnetic riser covers for faster cutaway access

From the Edge of Space to Your DZ

Red Bull Stratos: 128,100 Feet in an Infinity

In 2012, Velocity Sports Equipment was chosen to build the custom harness and container for Red Bull Stratos — the mission that sent Felix Baumgartner to the edge of space for the highest freefall in history. Lead designer Kelly Farrington invested over 200 hours engineering a system capable of handling a pressurized suit, multiple oxygen bottles, chest packs, and the forces of supersonic freefall from 128,100 feet.

That same engineering philosophy goes into every Infinity built at VSE's Redmond, Oregon facility. From Tom Classen's first rig in 1974 to Kelly Farrington's floating-lateral breakthrough, the Infinity carries over 50 years of continuous innovation — refined through military contracts, world records, and tens of thousands of sport rigs.

About the VSE Infinity

The VSE Infinity is a fully custom skydiving container system built by Velocity Sports Equipment in Redmond, Oregon. Rooted in a lineage that stretches back to Tom Classen's original 1974 design and refined through decades of engineering, every Infinity is measured, cut, and assembled to fit a single jumper.

What sets the Infinity apart is a philosophy that safety features should be standard, not add-ons. Every container ships with a mechanical MARD, concealed Velcro-free RSL, floating laterals, dual riser covers, and stainless steel hardware at no extra cost.

The Infinity is compatible with all modern sport canopies from 79 to 230+ square feet. It supports every discipline — freefly, wingsuit, swooping, CRW, and camera flying — with configuration options for each.

Each rig is FAA TSO-C23d certified and compatible with Cypres, Vigil, M2, and Argus AADs. Container sizes follow a two-digit system (I-11 through I-77) where the first digit indicates the reserve tray size and the second the main tray, ensuring precise canopy fit across 22 standard sizes.

Customization Options

VSE Infinity custom rig design and color options

Colors & Patterns

Choose from 28+ solid Cordura colors and 7 camouflage patterns (Multicam, Kryptek, Woodland, and more). Three container patterns are available: Standard solid layout, Party Stripe with alternating V-pattern panels, and X-Out with diagonal color blocks.

Hardware & Harness

Upgrade from standard 316 stainless steel to black stainless steel for a stealth aesthetic. Add magnetic riser covers for faster cutaway access, double-wide leg straps for maximum comfort, or a removable belly band for swooping stability.

Wingsuit & Swooping

Wingsuit pilots can add 1" dynamic corners to reduce material bunching at the wing-container interface. Pair with an extended 9' bridle and semi-stowless deployment bag for smoother wingsuit openings.

Design & Embroidery

Custom embroidery is available in multiple zones: flap panels, ring covers, side bodies, and riser covers. VSE's Design Services include a professional mock-up render of your custom rig before production begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Velocity Sports Equipment manufactures a custom Infinity container in 4-6 weeks from order confirmation. Shipping and optional professional assembly by our FAA certified rigger are additional. This is significantly faster than many competitors, which quote 20+ weeks. Rush manufacturing may be available for an additional fee — contact us for current lead times.

Yes. Every Infinity includes both the mechanical MARD and RSL at no additional charge. On many competing containers, MARD or Skyhook systems cost $300-$400 extra. VSE's philosophy is that reserve deployment speed should never be a paid upgrade. The MARD can be configured as active, RSL-only, or ripcord-only by the owner.

A mechanical MARD (like VSE's) uses a trigger tab and locking pin system that performs identically regardless of airspeed, body position, or spin rate. An aerodynamic MARD (like the Skyhook) relies on the departing main canopy's drag to pull the reserve free — its effectiveness can vary with malfunction type and conditions. VSE's mechanical approach requires less than one ounce of release force and has achieved a 100% capture rate in testing.

For a new build: height, weight, chest circumference, waist, torso length (chin to seat), thigh circumference, and inseam. If you already own an Infinity, provide your previous serial number and VSE will use those measurements as a starting point. We provide guidance in Step 7 of the configurator.

The Infinity accommodates main canopies from 79 to 230+ square feet depending on container size. Container sizes follow a two-digit system (I-11 through I-77, 22 standard sizes) where the first digit relates to the reserve tray and the second to the main tray. Custom sizes are available for non-standard canopy combinations. Maximum jumper weight is 254 lbs (115 kg).

The Infinity is widely used by wingsuit pilots. The floating laterals and low-profile design provide a clean body profile. Add optional 1\" dynamic corners to reduce material bunching at the wing-container interface, an extended 9' bridle for deployment distance, and a semi-stowless bag for smoother openings. The BOC pocket is positioned for easy reach in wingsuit flight.

The Infinity is compatible with all major AAD brands: Cypres, Vigil, M2 (Mars), and Argus. The container includes an AAD-ready pocket as standard.
