The PD Storm Line Set is an original replacement line set from Performance Designs, ordered for your selected canopy size and line type.
Line condition directly affects openings, trim, flare, and overall handling. Replacing the line set at the proper interval helps the canopy continue to fly as designed.

Lineset FAQ
How often should I replace my canopy lines?
How often should I replace my canopy lines?
There is no exact jump number for line replacement. As a rough guide, smaller performance lines such as 500 HMA or 500 Vectran on canopies like the PD Valkyrie may need attention sooner than larger workhorse line sets used on canopies like the Sabre3 or Navigator.
Conditions matter more than the number. Sand, dust, rough packing areas, damaged slider grommets, hard openings, and heavy use can wear lines much faster than clean packing and grass landings.
A good habit is to inspect your lines every 50–100 jumps, and have a rigger check line condition, trim, and visible wear regularly. Replace the line set when inspection shows excessive wear, damage, or the canopy is out of trim.
How do I know my canopy lines need changing?
How do I know my canopy lines need changing?
Common signs include visible wear, broken fibres, fuzzing, flat spots, burns, damaged stitching, or uneven line lengths. You may also notice changes in how the canopy opens, flies, turns, or flares.
Some problems are not obvious by eye. Lines can shrink or go out of trim while still looking acceptable, especially with high-use canopies or abrasive conditions. Sand, dust, rough packing surfaces, damaged slider grommets, and hard openings can speed up wear significantly.
If the canopy starts behaving differently, or if the lines show visible wear, have a rigger check the line trim and overall condition before continuing to jump it.
Which line type should I choose?
Which line type should I choose?
Choose the line type listed for your exact Performance Designs canopy model and size. Not every line type is available for every canopy, and changing line type can affect pack volume, openings, trim, handling, performance, and line life.
As a simple rule, stay with the same line type currently installed on your canopy unless your rigger recommends changing it. For most canopies, where available, we recommend Vectran lines because they offer a good balance of performance, trim stability, and durability.
If you are not sure which line type you have, check your canopy documents, ask your rigger, or contact us before ordering.
Can I jump with damaged or worn lines?
Can I jump with damaged or worn lines?
No. If you see cuts, burns, broken fibres, heavy fuzzing, flat spots, damaged stitching, or unusual wear, do not continue jumping the canopy until it has been inspected.
Even small-looking damage can reduce line strength or affect canopy performance, especially under opening shock. Have a rigger check the line condition, trim, and slider/grommets before jumping it again.
Can I install the line set myself?
Can I install the line set myself?
Line set installation should be done by a qualified rigger or experienced canopy technician. A reline is not just “changing strings” — correct routing, continuity, trim, brake settings, connector links, slider position, and final inspection all matter.
Incorrect installation can cause poor openings, turns, loss of performance, or a serious malfunction. After installation, the canopy should be checked before jumping.
Are these original line sets?
Are these original line sets?
Yes. These are original replacement line sets from the manufacturer, ordered for the exact canopy model, size, and line type selected.
Before ordering, double-check your canopy label and make sure the selected model, size, and line type match your canopy. If you are unsure, ask your rigger or contact us before placing the order.
What do worn canopy lines look like?
What do worn canopy lines look like?
Worn lines can look fuzzy, flattened, discoloured, burned, or uneven. You may also see broken fibres, damaged stitching, abrasion near cascade points, or extra wear where the lines contact the slider/grommets.
Healthy lines should look clean, even, and consistent along their length. But visual inspection is only part of the story — lines can shrink or go out of trim even when they still look acceptable.
If you see visible wear, or if the canopy starts opening, flying, turning, or flaring differently, have a rigger inspect the lines before continuing to jump it.
