Icarus World RDS Slider

The Icarus World RDS Slider is a removable deployment-system slider for compatible high-performance Icarus canopies. After opening, the slider can be removed from the risers to reduce drag and clean up the canopy for performance flight.

An RDS is a specialist component for experienced canopy pilots. It can improve post-opening performance and overhead visibility, but it also adds procedure and responsibility. It should only be used by jumpers who understand removable deployment systems and have been coached appropriately.

What it does

RDS means Removable Deployment System. The slider is part of the deployment system during opening, then is removed after inflation so the canopy flies with less drag. Icarus notes that removing or collapsing slider drag lets the canopy produce more useful lift and fly more cleanly.

Compatibility

• Modelled here for compatible Icarus high-performance canopies such as GTR and XFire.
• Options combine canopy, canopy size and slider colour.
• Requires the correct riser/link setup; Icarus guidance references 25 mm / 1 inch risers and soft links or appropriate stainless links.

Confirm canopy model, size, risers, links and whether an RDS is appropriate for your jumping with a qualified canopy coach or rigger. This is not a beginner upgrade and should not be selected only for aesthetics.
