Über den JYRO Kraken

The Kraken is JYRO's purpose-built wingsuit canopy — a 7-cell hybrid design engineered from the ground up for low bulk, small pack volume, and reliable performance in wingsuit flight. The hybrid planform combines the predictable handling of a conventional canopy with the compact packing characteristics that wingsuit pilots need. Built with L-ZP ultralight silicone-coated nylon, the Kraken packs smaller than traditional canopies of the same size, giving wingsuit pilots more options for container fit.

7-Cell Hybrid Construction

The 7-cell design provides a balance of performance and simplicity. Fewer cells mean fewer ribs, which translates directly to smaller pack volume. The hybrid planform delivers stable, predictable flight without sacrificing the glide ratio wingsuit pilots need for long spot landings.

L-ZP Ultralight Fabric

L-ZP (Light Zero Porosity) silicone-coated nylon is the primary fabric throughout the canopy. This ultralight material dramatically reduces both weight and pack volume compared to standard ZP fabric, while maintaining excellent air retention and shape. J-ZP reinforcement is used in high-load structural areas for durability.

Fat Cell Design

The Kraken uses wider, fatter cells compared to conventional canopies. This design choice improves opening behaviour at wingsuit deployment speeds, provides better shape retention in flight, and contributes to the soft, predictable openings that define the Kraken experience.

Who Should Fly This Wing?

The Kraken is designed for wingsuit pilots at all experience levels — from first wingsuit jumpers to experienced flockers. The recommended wing loading of 1.0–1.5 lbs/sqft gives a broad usable range. The forgiving flight characteristics and soft openings make it an excellent choice as a dedicated wingsuit canopy, while the responsive handling and good glide ratio satisfy experienced pilots too.

What size Kraken do I need?

Size depends on your exit weight (including wingsuit) and experience level. The recommended wing loading range is 1.0–1.5 lbs/sqft. Use the size calculator above, or contact us and we'll help you dial in the right size based on your jump numbers, wingsuit type, and goals.

Is the Kraken only for wingsuit jumping?

The Kraken is optimized for wingsuit flight, but it works well for any skydiver who wants a low-bulk, small pack volume canopy with soft openings. Some jumpers use it as a travel canopy or as a main for situations where container space is limited. However, if you're looking for a high-performance canopy for swooping or a general-purpose main, the Helium or Safire 4 would be better choices.

What are the pack volume benefits of the Kraken?

The combination of L-ZP ultralight fabric and 7-cell construction makes the Kraken pack significantly smaller than a standard ZP canopy of the same size. This means you can fit a larger canopy in your wingsuit container, or enjoy easier packing and a cleaner overall profile. The low bulk also reduces the chance of container lock during wingsuit deployment.

How is the Kraken different from other JYRO canopies?

The Helium is JYRO's all-round 9-cell for intermediate pilots. The Safire 4 is a high-performance 9-cell for advanced pilots. The JFX 2 is a crossbraced canopy for expert swooping pilots. The Kraken sits in its own category as JYRO's wingsuit-specific low-bulk canopy — 7-cell hybrid construction built for small pack volume and soft openings at wingsuit deployment speeds.

What line options are available?

The Kraken comes with Vectran lines as standard — a mix of Vectran 400, 500, and 750 depending on the load group. Vectran provides excellent trim consistency, low stretch, and long-term reliability. There are no RDS or slider options on the Kraken — it uses a standard slider optimized for wingsuit openings.

How long is the Kraken lead time?

Custom orders take approximately 30 weeks from the JYRO factory. In-stock canopies arrive in 1–2 weeks. Stock canopies marked "In Production" may take slightly longer. Check the stock section above for what's available right now.

Can I design my own color scheme?

Yes! Use the 3D configurator to pick colors for the top skin and bottom skin. Save your design, share the link, or add it straight to your cart. The Kraken has a simple 7-cell layout — top skin and bottom skin are your two main color zones.
